Welcome to another craft beer review for Games And A Glass! This week I am reviewing a beer from Glasstown Brewing Company, located in MIllville, New Jersey. The beer for this week will be their Mosaic Man, a Mega Man themed IPA. But of course, before going into the review, let’s talk about Glasstown Brewing.
The history of the brewery can be found on their site, and it tells the story of a passionate beer fan pursuing his dream in a historic New Jersey town.

“In 2013, Glasstown Brewing Company was founded based on the dream to have a job that was fun and exciting. After years of working in the private sector as an Environmental Consultant and bartender, I decided that I could live out that dream by focusing my efforts on something I love. BEER! After years of home brewing and sharing beer with friends and family, it occurred to me that it was time to turn this hobby in to a business. Something I could enjoying doing day in and day out, “the dream job.”
With a lot of hard work Glasstown Brewing Company opened on December 20, 2013. Glasstown Brewing Company was named after the rich history of the City of Millville. The town for which the brewery bases its name, was once the glass making center for the country. This unique town and plentiful silica resources made Millville one of the premier locations in the country for glass making. Millville has had a rich and vibrant history, which is still prevalent in its Glasstown Arts District and the Clay College which continues to educate artists. The brewery is proud to share in the history of Millville and its name as Glasstown Brewing Company. The brewery is also proud to be located at The Millville Airport where it is located within the Army Airfield Historic District. The Millville Army Airfield played an integral part in WWII where pilots were trained to fly the infamous P-47 Thunderbolt. The Millville Army Airfield was also the first of its kind in WWII.”
Some of Glasstown’s beers include their 856 Double IPA, as well as various video game themed beers. These include this week’s Mosaic Man, a Contra inspired IPA and their Danky Kong IPA.
Unfortunately there isn’t a description of the beer provided on the can, and at the time of this writing, their site doesn’t include one either. I’m assuming their beer list just isn’t updated to include Mosaic Man, but hopefully that changes soon!
And now onto my thoughts!
Nose: There’s a faint combination of fruitiness and hops to this beer. I wish at least one of these aspects were more present but sadly they’re quite tame. If anything, this leads me to believe the beer will, if anything, have some balance of hops and fruit to it.
Palate: Unfortunately I’m finding the taste to be underwhelming, too. I get hops right off the bat, and while it’s refreshing, I was hoping there would be something else to go with the taste. And whatever else is intended for its flavor is almost entirely masked by the hops. I wish I could say more about its taste, but for me it’s a one-dimensional beer.
Overall: This beer is okay. I’m admittedly not sure what I was expecting, but I was hoping it would be something more significant than this. For what it’s worth, at 6.5 percent ABV this beer isn’t too much to drink, and if you like something with some hops, this could fit the bill. And if anything, I’m curious to try the other video game themed beers that Glasstown has brewed. They do have some rad art on these cans.
I’d like to thank you for reading my craft beer review. If there’s ever a craft beer you’d recommend I try and/or review, please let me know and I will try, to the best of my ability, to acquire it! And remember, like a fine alcoholic beverage or a memorable video game, please enjoy in moderation.
